Once a year we try to visit my Grandma Joanne Scott in California. It's always a real treat! This year we decided to go during Fall Break. We never had a Fall Break where I grew up in Texas. But, in Utah the kids get a long weekend off of school. Like a Thursday, Friday and Monday off.
So Riley went to school on Monday and we woke the kids up at 3:00 am on Tuesday (10/14/14) to get to the airport! (SO early!) The flight left Salt Lake City at 6:00 am. We had been planning this surprise for several months. When Jake woke the older girls up, Riley said "Why are we running errands in the middle of the night?!" haha! Once we got to the airport she figured out we were flying somewhere. All of them traveled so well! Poor baby Afton was exhausted, but happy.
Grandma Great meeting Afton for the first time!
We let the girls relax the rest of the day. Here they are showing Grandma how the iPad works.
When baby is on the floor, someone has to love on her! :) How can you resist?
My Uncle John came to see us and invited us to come to Disneyland. He works on the trains at Disneyland. Such a cool job!
My lovely Grandma. Always cleaning! I hope I look as good as her when I'm 85!
The next day (10/15/14) we went to Disneyland! Thank you so much Uncle John!! What a wonderful gift! We have never been to Disneyland in October. It was really fun to see all the Halloween decorations!
The weather (as always) was perfect!
Waiting in lines, lines, lines :)
Meeting Mickey!
The next day (10/16/14) we went to the Orange County Zoo.
The best part was the petting zoo!
On (10/17/14) we went to the beach! My Grandma lives 5 minutes away from Huntington Beach. On our way we stopped by a bird refuge.
We borrowed a tent and some beach toys from a neighbor across the street. I was brave enough to go knocking door to door. The first woman that answered the door was so nice and let us take more than I could have hoped for! Miss Afton and I enjoyed the shade.
Jake bought a kite from the dollar store. If you look close, you can see Riley flying it!
Sage showing me her sea shells.
Waiting for the next wave to come.
Afton didn't like the cold water!
Daddy buried the girls. :)
The next day (10/18/14) we went to Pretend City. It was an indoor place where kids can let their imaginations run wild! They could pretend to be cashiers, dentists, doctors, artists, construction workers, farmers, performers ….
Haha! It was a lot of fun!
Checking out Mom's ears. I was healthy!
Of course Riley and Sage's favorite part.
Being on stage!
On Sunday, (10/19/14) Grandma was volunteering for an organization at her church. You could buy an animal for someone in another country, so they had animals on display!
When Grandma was finished volunteering she took us out to lunch.
This is a famous statue in Huntington Beach, where surfing began.
Out on the pier at Ruby's Diner.
The balloon guy at Ruby's could make ANYTHING. Riley wanted Ariel and Sage wanted Elsa.
Too cute!
The girls trying to pop gigantic bubbles!
We had a wonderful time in California! It's great to have fun things to look forward to and make good memories to look back on. We traveled home on my birthday (10/20/14). It was a loooong day. We didn't get home till 2:00 am! Once again, the girls are amazing little travelers and did so well! It was an awesome vacation and we are so glad we were able to go!

Such cute kids! Glad you had such a fun trip! So excited to see you all soon!!!
