Cancun, Mexico

We had a Blickenstaff family reunion in Cancun, Mexico! (June 11-18th) Everyone had such a great time! Our girls put their swim-suits on first thing every morning and were always disappointed to hear that we needed to eat breakfast first. We were spoiled! Mom and Dad booked 5 family suites at the Beach Palace Resort. What is a family suite you ask? Well, at this hotel, it meant that my own family of 4 had two connecting rooms. Jake and I had our own room and the girls had one of their own as well. It was perfect! And, it was an all-inclusive resort...so we never had to worry about preparing a meal! Between Jake and I we took about 500 pictures. I went through them and tried to post the best ones.

This was Jake and I's room. I didn't take a picture of the girls room, but it was the next room over to the left. It looked the same as ours, but they had two double beds. The girls got their own set of slippers and beach toys! Oh! And, we each had a mini fridge that the girls took full advantage of!

The girls loved the Kids Club. They did face painting, balloon animals, movies, crafts, baked pizza and cookies etc...

We had fun shopping at the flea market and mall. Mainly because Jake speaks spanish and has some crazy good bargaining skills.

Beach Palace had a couple different restaurants you could choose from: Mexican, Japanese, Italian or you could just eat at the buffet or pool bar. The food was so good!

On our very last day, Grandpa and Grandma watched our kiddos so that we could go explore some very cool ruins. My parents hired a Mormon tour guide to take us to Yucatan, Mexico (a 2.5 hour drive from Cancun) to show us the Ek Balam Mayan ruins.  

Before the Mayans abandoned their village, they built walls around the temples and filled them with sand. It preserved the sculptures and artifacts almost perfectly. We have been to several ruins, but these were in such good shape! It was beautiful. So much detail.

When we got back from our day out exploring, we got to see Miss Riley getting her first pedicure!

Thank you Mom and Dad for such an unforgettable family vacation! It was so great to be able to spend time with everyone. Especially the cousins and Aunts and Uncles from Texas. We know that doesn't happen as often as we'd like it too, but you made it possible for all of us to be together in such a fun place. Thank you, thank you! We hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did!
